2012 in review

I'm really glad the Mayans were wrong because I'm pretty excited about 2013. It's going to be a great year, but, then again, every year is a great year in my opinion. We are starting off January with a trip to Peru, the guys' cookbook launches March 7th and we're (finger crossing) we can start on a small house remodel. It's going to be an exiting year.

Instead of doing a month by month look back at the 2012, I decided to pick 12 of my favorite moments from the year. Here they are:

1. Going to Mexico to see my favorite band, Widespread Panic, perform for four nights. This trip combined my three favorite things...travel, music and friends.

2. Visiting Key West, FL with Anders and my family. Vacationing with my family is the best, and Key West isn't too shabby either.

3. I turned 30 this year (!) and Anders took me to LA to celebrate. We travel a lot, but it's almost always with friends and family. It was nice to have to weekend with just us.

4. I made my first quilt!

5. Camping at Big Bottom with friends never gets old.

6. Anders and I both got bikes and bike adventures began.

7. We stayed in a yurt on Guemes Island.

8. Anders and I started hiking more and we trekked to the top of Rattlesnake Ridge.

9. Always up for trying something new, we attempted to indoor skydive. It's way harder than it looks.

10. Nothing beats your first ever String Cheese show.

11. My little bro got married! I was so happy I could come home for the wedding and see all my family.

12. And last, but not least, our trip to Italy and Greece was beyond epic. I'm still thinking about the pasta with anchovies I ate!

Happy New Year to you all!

products I love: rainbow maker

Anders got me the coolest gift for Christmas. It's a solar powered rainbow maker. A what? Yes, it's a little contraption that you suction cup to your window. There is a little solar powered motor that turns a crystal and, when the sun is shining, creates little rainbows all over your room. It has been raining non-stop since Christmas, so there hasn't been much rainbow making going on over here. Well, the sun came out today and woohoo! We've got living room rainbows. Awesome.

Here is a video I made on Vine of the product in action.

a miller christmas

We spent Christmas Eve with Anders' family and Christmas day just him, me and Maggie. Biscuits and gravy were involved, and we didn't change out of our PJs all day. It was great. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday too. Here are some pictures.

Our nieces and nephews.  I always make them take a group shot BEFORE they get to open gifts. Works out better that way :)

Nothing better than surprised faces!

merry christmas!

The fish market's crazy holiday schedule has come to an end for another year. These hard working boys are currently enjoying a much deserved holiday off. In our particular household, Christmas will involve sleeping-in, biscuits and gravy followed by some naps.

Wishing you all a very restful and peaceful Christmas holiday!

wives and cookies

While the husbands are off working their crazy holiday schedules at the fish market, a few of us wives got together and made cookies! Dina (wife of Jake) invited Jen (wife of Taho) and I over for festive drinks and a little cookies exchange. Even though our group was small, we ended up with a lot of fun treats. Dina made Mexican Wedding Cakes, I made Cookie Dough Bites and Jen, in her effort to keep us somewhat healthy, managed to put together the most delicious cookies and bars using healthy ingredients.  I don't have the exact recipes, but I can tell you beets, cashews, black beans and chia seeds were all involved. Since her cookies were so healthy, I'm thinking I'm allowed dessert after, right?

market christmas

A few pictures of Christmas at Pike Place market. One of the prettiest times of the year to be down there. Except summer...nothing beats summer.

Only a few days away...is everyone excited?!?!

christmas craze

It's full on crazy, Christmas mode at the fish market. The boys go to work at 4am and get off at 6:30pm. And they ship a lot of fish...and I do mean a lot. Hopefully one of those boxes is coming to my house!
