painting

(I think this is hilarious)

So...I have been painting. Like, every night this week after work, I have been painting. There is paint in my hair and under my nails and maybe even a drop or two on the floor (oops). There hasn't been much time for playing and adventures and picture taking. I'm hoping to get back into all that soon. In the meantime, it's Friday, and we have a cold and rainy weekend ahead of us. It will be perfect for relaxing and catching up on TV and more painting. Who wants to come help?!?! I hope you all have a nice weekend!

parking day

One of my favorite days in Seattle is PARK(ing) Day where people turn metered parking spots into temporary mini parks....as in literally the park is the length of a parking spot. PARK(ing) day is actually not a Seattle only event, it takes place world wide and its mission is to call attention to the need for more urban open space.

People get so creative about their spaces. I love spending my lunch hour looking at all the installations. My favorite one this year was a park that had easels set up with paints and brushes, and anyone off the street could sit down and paint. It was awesome!

Now, my painting ability can be compared to that of a kindergartner, but it was a rather therapeutic way to spend the lunch hour regardless. Check out the real artist, though!

Thanks for being so cool, Seattle!

a friday laugh

This is my new vintage honey pot, and I am totally in love with it. I found it for $7 on Etsy, but it has nothing to do with what I really wanted to share...

Remember last 4th of July when my friends and I attempted to spell out USA with sparklers? Well, our complete and total fail was added to the Pinterest Fail site! Check it out here. Haha. Awesome. If you want to feel better about yourself, check out the whole site. It's amazingly funny and just goes to show you that Pinterest really shouldn't be taken all that seriously.

Happy Friday to you all!

kitchen update

I haven't done an update on our kitchen project in awhile, so here are some new pictures. It sure has come a long way from where it was. The contractors are about finished, but we are by no means "done." All that means is that that the work starts for Anders and I! We still have trim to paint, chairs to find, curtains to hang, walls to decorate etc. etc. but we at least have a functioning kitchen!

Anders gets cozy on our new bench seating

We are going to add a colorful back splash behind the oven. Painting the ceiling is on the agenda too.

Our new table! The chair are temporary until we can find something we love.

These bar stools are temporary too. We are having custom ones made that will be done in October. To the right of our bar stools is our new spice cabinet.

Our new pantry. The doors still have to be stained and we need handles, but we are pretty excited about all the extra space.

This has truly been a long and stressful process, but we couldn't be more excited about the outcome. There is just so much more room and it makes cooking way more enjoyable. I can't wait until it's totally finished.

we are loud

The following things happened last Sunday:

1. We went to the Seahawks game against the 49ers and totally creamed them 50 to 0...or something like that

2. Our stadium beat the world record for being the loudest stadium in the world. I had ear plugs in my pocket. I did not wear them. It was a really big mistake.

3. I had a pretty amazing blue and green doughnut.

We actually like this guy...he just likes the wrong team

My friends, Pat and Laura

(yep. this is her)

This is my friend, Chris, as Sherman

 Crazy lightning skies!

And purple skies too!

My super funny and talented friend, Nick, sent me this picture of Anders with his thumb reattached (see original photo here). Ha. If only Photoshop really worked that well!

weekend

Weekend Recap: I painted our new construction a whoooooole lot, Anders severed his finger at work and had to have it reattached in the ER with 6 stitches (don't ask), the Seahawks managed to pull out a totally crappy win (we'll take it), and we got a new dining room table (WOO! Pictures of the house construction forthcoming). All in all, a totally productive yet slightly crazy with a dose of anxiety weekend. Hope you all had a fantastic weekend too and no fingers were hurt in the process.

oh, you know

Around here we are:
 1. Still under construction (although we are getting close! Very very close!)
2. Getting ready for football season with multiple fantasy football drafts (Yay! Seahawks!!)
3. Eating out a lot
4.  Spending too much time talking about pendant lighting (Ugh. Boring.)
5. Wrapping up the summer and already talking about soup weather
6. Making Maggie pose in front of beautiful blue walls.

The world needs more blue walls. The end.

red to green

Some people spend Labor Day weekend camping or boating or grilling out and enjoying the sun. We, on the other hand, spend it painting. It might sound terrible, but it is actually super fun cause we paint with the Grateful Dead and champagne!

How many different pictures of painting can you take? Let's see!
