cat cafe

Last night I went with some friends to Wallingford's new cat cafe called Meowtropolitan (worst name in the history of cafe names). It's exactly as it sounds...a cafe...with cats. You have to have a reservation to get in, and you are limited to 1 hour with the cats. The shop regulates the number of visitors, so the cats don't get over stimulated. The best part is that only about half of the cats are residents where as the other half are from the shelter and up for adoption! I highly recommend checking it out whether you're in the market for a cat or not.

Prepare to be bombarded with cat pictures!

Who wants to go back with me?!?!

weasel coffee

Someone asked me recently what was the weirdest thing Anders and I tired while in Vietnam. Without hesitation, I had to say Weasel Coffee.

Weasel Coffee is the rarest and most expensive coffee in the world. This coffee exists only in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. In this part of the world, weasels eat mature coffee beans and discard the beans in their feces. It is then collected by farmers and processed. When the beans are in the weasel's digestive system, the beans mix with their stomach enzymes and it changes the flavor of the coffee. It becomes buttery with the taste of syrup that brings out the harmony of jungle and chocolate. (I stole that from the brochure).

I realized this might sound disgusting. Okay, it is disgusting, but, in fact, is really delicious and smooth. The coffee is cleaned so it's not like you are actually ingesting feces of any sort, but it is hard to look past that, though.

This tiny, tiny little cup of coffee cost $10. A normal sized bag (like you would find in the grocery store) was $100!

three things I currently love and one thing I hate

1. This shirt was accidentally sent to me by  mistake. When I contacted the company, I was told I could keep it (it's says "Coffee...a hug in a cup")! Love!

2. These flowers randomly decided to start growing at the base of our deck stairs. I have no idea where they came from (squirrels?), but I love them.

3. You can now buy Maddie on Things prints! As I've mentioned before, I love Maddie. I bought this picture for our kitchen, and it is SO cool. Everything about it is perfect.

However...

I do NOT love the giant hobo spider that decided to crawl across the COUCH and attack me. For a frame of reference, please refer to this picture I took of one a few years ago in our bathroom. Not cool. Soooo...not cool. I refused to get on the couch the rest of the day.

Happy Monday! Hopefully there are no spiders and only free shirts in your day.

coffee date

One of our favorite things to do is to drink coffee...especially on cold, rainy, November days. Lately, I've been meeting Anders on his afternoon breaks, and we stop in at DeLaurenti for a quick cup. Anders only gets 15 minutes a break, but that's just enough time to drink a cappuccino, have a chocolate treat and talk about the weather.
