two things

Two cool things from the Seahawks game yesterday (and I'm not even counting our win)

This awesome pumpkin carved into a hawk

And rockin' our new tie dye shirts while tailgating.

Hope you all have a fun Monday!

not so scary

Well, despite carving pumpkins, lighting them and setting them by our front gate, locking the pup up so she didn't bark, vacuuming my living room, setting out candy and candles…we received no trick-or-treaters (actually, I lie, my cutie niece and nephew stopped by, but they are obligated seeing as how they live next to us, and I would have hunted them down otherwise). All that was left to do was sulk in my huge bowl of candy. Seriously. The scariest thing to happen to me all night was witnessing Anders cook this giant octopus.

Happy Halloween!

I have lots to celebrate today.

1. It's my Mother-in-Law's birthday. October 31st might be the best day ever to have a birthday. Happy Birthday Eleonora!
2. My little blog is a year old. My first post ever is here. Funny how it has been a year, but it's still true.
3. It's Halloween, and I just so happen to LOVE trick or treaters!

These pictures are from last Monday night. Anders and I had ourselves a little pumpkin party. We made pumpkin shepherd's pie (delicious) and carved ourselves some friends.

tie dye party

Tie dyeing attempt two (first attempt here). This time we went all out and hosted a little party with our friends, and  we came with a whole bag of white clothed goodness to unleash the dye on. Sure, it may have taken us until 2am to complete the dying and until 4pm the following day to get everything rinsed and washed , but what we ended up with was well worth it. We rocked it. Anders and I are developing some mad tie dye skillzzzz.

fall challenge

JoAnna from one of my favorite blogs, A Cup of Jo, has started giving her readers weekly fall challenges. She posts a new one every week. The first challenge was to go a week without TV, but since it's football season, I promptly declined. The second challenge was to memorize a poem, but, well, I just sort of forgot about that one. However, this week's challenge was to try a new food, and since I love to eat, I figured this was a challenge I could get behind. I finally tried Bibimbap last night, a Korean dish which literally translates to mixed rice. It comes with vegetables, a fried egg and super delicious sliced beef. It was so fun to try something new and step outside my comfort zone, and, also, it was amazing...so bonus! What do you think? Wanna play along?

Also, random, but this article was super interesting to me. People living forever in Ikaria.

Happy Saturday!

oh hello there

Sorry for the bit of a blogging break, but things have been a little ho-hum around here. However, there are three important things you should know:

1. Anders and I have both been super sick and, therefore, have been watching a lot of Breaking Bad (so good. How come no one told me?)

2. Anders went to New York to handle some business about their cookbook. The Pike Place Fish cookbook is being released this coming March, and it's currently for pre-sale on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I know I mentioned it before, but this time there's an actual cover picture!

3. I am almost done with my Christmas shopping. Truth.

not the world's largest, but close

In case you were wondering...this carrot is actually not the largest in the history of the world. That record is held by a 18.985 pound carrot from 1998. However it is the largest I have ever seen. And that's pretty cool too.
